The Humanitarian Cooperation Agreement signed in Belgrade between the Sovereign Order of Malta and the Republic of Serbia

Belgrade, December 11th, 2013

In the historical Palace of Serbia, seat of the Presidency of the Republic and of the most important ministries, today was signed the Agreement on Cooperation in the Humanitarian Field between the Sovereign Order of Malta and the Republic of Serbia.

For the Government of Serbia, the agreement has been signed by the Minister of Health, HE Slavica Đukić Dejanović and for the Order of Malta, the Ambassador to the Republic of Serbia, Alberto di Luca.

During the particularly friendly encounter between the two delegations, which preceded the signing ceremony, many issues have been discussed related to the excellent bilateral relations and their further developments.

The Ambassador di Luca, briefed the Minister Đukić Dejanović on social and health initiatives already implemented and currently undertaken, and on those planned in the future- with First Counsellor Mr. Buora coordinating the various hospital and healthcare initiatives promoted by the Embassy of the Sovereign Order in Belgrade – for the new year 2014 that will address both the supply of modern and medical equipment for a collaborative project in the research for the cure of maculopathy, with particular attention to children affected by this serious and debilitating disease.

Also, as part of the commitment of collaboration for care and treatment of the diseases that affects children, the Ambassador di Luca informed the Minister Đukić Dejanović about the donations that the Embassy of the Order will give, for Christmas, to the young patients of the Hospital of Pediatric Oncology in Belgrade.
