Belgrade, September 9th 2015
On Tuesday, October 13th, will be held the ceremony of handover of the WISHES as conclusion of the charity project initiated in 2014 by the Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Serbia
For logistical reasons, related to the distance between the various cities affected by the floods of May 2014, it was decided to split the ceremony between Sid and Ljig.
Of the approximately 3,500 letters written by elementary school children, and sent to our Embassy in Belgrade, about 1,500 have been selected for which the necessary founding has been found.
The two pillars of this generosity, that made possible the “delivery” of about 1,500 WISHES, were the success of the charity-dinner that took place, on June 19th, at the Twiga of Monte Carlo (see the article on other page of our website ) and the precious support of our friends from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taipei which, through the Taiwanese representative office in Hungary, confirmed two days ago to the Embassy the donation for 65 bicycles, 2 wheelchairs and 300 chairs and desks for young Serbian students.
We renew our fervent thanks to the tireless organizers of the event in the Principality of Monaco – HRH Prince Michael of Yugoslavia, Flavio Briatore and Luca Marzocco – and their distinguished guests, as well as to the Government of Taipei that, once again, proved its availability for solidarity and cooperation with the humanitarian activities of the Sovereign Order of Malta.
