Make a WISH to the Sovereign Order of Malta 2016
22/03/2016

Serbia, March 15 – December 15, 2016

The Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta in Belgrade, in view of the brilliant results achieved in 2015, has decided to repeat in 2016 the initiative “Make a WISH to the Sovereign Order of Malta” dedicated to Serbian children and youth.
Among the novelties of the second edition the different ways to support the project will be: instead of relying only on the outcome of a Charity dinner – like the one that, with great success of participants and donations, was held in Monte Carlo in June 2015 – a solidarity network will be activated based on the sensitivity of both individual and institutional and organizational entities in different countries among which, besides Serbia, France, Italy, Principality of Monaco, Taiwan and Hungary.
The terms of participation will require, like in 2015, that letters with the WISHES must be addressed to the Embassy of the Order.
This time the choice won’t be “geographical” and linked to a single circumstance as was the one of the tragic floods of 2014, but will be targeted towards orphans, especially those with physical and / or mental disabilities, in need of medical care and emotional and psychological support.
The two pre-chosen Serbian centers, home to these orphans, are those of Sremcica and Izvor.
It will be required of them to write their own WISH, and if the state of their health should not permit it, WISHES written on their behalf by a Tutor, if available or by the Director of the Centre that houses them will be accepted.
The Embassy will take under consideration not only the individual but group WISHES as well.
The collection of the letters is now open and will end on April 15, 2016.
The organizers are already working on collecting donations in order to support the largest number of WISHES.
Unlike the two concluding ceremonies of the first edition – that took place in October 2015 in Lig and Sid – for the 2016 edition the deliveries of the WISHES to the two centers will be ongoing throughout the year according to the availability of the donations.
This was decided together with the heads of the centers of Sremcica and Izvor, not to create unnecessary time spans and be as close and as frequently as possible to their young and unfortunate little guests and bring them a few moments of joy with the fulfillment of their expressed desires.
