“Make a WISH” from Emilia Romagna (Italy)

“Make a WISH” from Emilia Romagna (Italy)
22/05/2023

The dramatic images coming from Emilia Romagna (Italy) speak for themselves about a human and economic disaster. We have been contacted at the Embassy by Italian volunteers who are tirelessly working in the flooded areas. They asked for help through our “Make a WISH to the Order of Malta” project. Although the project was initially created to help people in Serbia, it has been decided to urgently convene the Diplomatic structure to assess the exception. We have promptly agreed to respond to the request considering the fact that the “Make a WISH” project originated in Serbia to help the population affected by the devastating floods in May 2014 (in the areas of Sid and Ljig).

Therefore, we are launching a fundraising campaign to assist these people who have been dramatically affected. Before allocating the aid based on the amount we collect, the methods of assistance and above all, the direct recipients will be communicated on the pages of our website.

PS For those who are not familiar with Emilia Romagna:

“Emilia Romagna is that piece of land that God created to allow men to build Ferrari.

The people of Emilia-Romagna are like that.

Do they need to make a car? They create a Ferrari, a Maserati, and a Lamborghini.

Do they need to make a motorcycle? They create a Ducati.

Do they need to make cheese? They invent Parmigiano Reggiano.

Do they need to make spaghetti? They establish Barilla.

Do they need to make you a coffee? They give you Saeco.

Do they need to find someone to write songs? They give birth to people like Dalla, Morandi, Pavarotti, Vasco, Liga, Zucchero, Laura Pausini, Cremonini, and many others…

Do they need to make a syringe? They establish a biomedical company.

Do they need to make a few tiles? They come up with majolica tiles.

They are like the Japanese, they never stop, they never tire, and if they have to do something, they like to do it well, beautifully, and useful to everyone.

Will there be stones left after an earthquake? In the end, they will build cathedrals.”
