On May 31st, in the presence of the Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta Francesco Maria Amoruso, the inauguration ceremony of the new group therapy room was held at the Kovin Psychiatric Hospital, the largest psychiatric facility in the country with over 1,000 beds. This facility is part of the process of transformation and modernization in the treatment of mental illness. The intervention consisted of the complete renovation of a building previously used for other purposes, including the reconstruction of the entire roof. This is a joint project involving the Embassy, LDS Charities, the Government of Serbia, and the hospital itself. Deep gratitude to all project participants was expressed by the Hospital Director, Dr. Jovanka Petrovic.
A few days earlier, Embassy representatives participated in the signing of an agreement between LDS Charities and the Cardiovascular Clinic in Niš. In this important project, the Embassy facilitated the collaboration between our usual partners and the Hospital in Niš, following the spirit of a mission which entails finding those who support the most vulnerable. The project involves the donation of modern and costly medical equipment to one of the most important hospitals in the region, covering the needs of the entire southern Serbian population. The Director of the Hospital, Dr. Dragan Milic, representatives of LDS Charities, Chad and Jennifer Griffiths, along with Embassy members, held a press conference and then enjoyed a friendly conversation with the Hospital staff.
