FIRST PHASE OF THE PROJECT “MAKE A WISH” COMPLETED

30/03/2015

Belgrade, March 30th

Today ended the first phase of the project “Make a WISH to the Sovereign Order of Malta”: this was the part in which elementary school children, from the areas affected by the tragic floods in May 2014, could send to the Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta in Belgrade their letters with the expression of their WISH.

More than 3000 letters have arrived, from the most diverse and original requests, to those particularly touching, behind which often transpires sadness and discomfort, to those more typical for the age group of 5 to 13 year olds. Now begins, for the Embassy and the appropriate committee – composed of: Patron of the project H.R.H. Crown Prince Alexander Karadjordjevic; H.E. Msgr. Stanislav Hocevar, Catholic Archbishop in Belgrade; Dr. Andrea Simoncelli, President of Generali Insurance – Serbia; Prof. Nenad Prokic, Project Manager – Make a Wish to the Order; Dr. Prof. Aleksandra Arandjelovic, Director of the University Medical Center Zvezdara; First Counsellor of the Embassy Dr. Carlo Buora and Ambassador Alberto di Luca, as President of the Commission – the most important work inherent to the analysis and selection of the WISHES, as well as that of the research of funds to satisfy as many of them as possible.

To this regard it is worth noting the confirmation of an important charity event, dedicated to the project “Make a WISH”, to be held on June 19th in Monaco. A significant event in the presence of famous artists – Umberto Tozzi, Ivana Spagna, Leroy Gomez of Santa Esmeralda, Eddy Jordan’s Band – and prestigious sponsors – Dom Perignon, Bentley and Gaga.

Again on this occasion the rootedness of the Order, spread in 120 countries around the world, has been proven to be of great importance: in fact, the Monegasque Association of the Order has offered it’s patronage to the praiseworthy event entirely devoted to the possibility of giving moments of joy to Serbian children affected by the great natural disaster of last year. Additional help has already been confirmed by the structures of the Order of Lombardy (Italy), by individual members as well as by external donors from other countries.
