Belgrade, May 15
On May 15th the International Day of Families is celebrated in the World, which was proclaimed by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1994. This Day is an important opportunity to promote awareness of the problems and the need for resources related to this fundamental topic for all humanity.
The UN considers the family as the “fundamental social group and the natural environment for the development and well-being of all its members, especially children”.
Sharing fully this solemn affimation, coherent with the spiritual and moral values of the Melitense Mission, the Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta – as part of its humanitarian action and the Project “A hot meal in a cold winter” – wanted to go beyond the “winter” and arrive until today to bring the help to the children hosted at the Shelter in Belgrade who, unfortunately, frequently suffer because of painful problems with their families of origin.
